And now I want a bacon-wrapped Snickers bar. I hate my brain.

In other news, it is snowing like a right bastard and has been for over two hours. And I got (yet another) rejection today, so I shipped the thing off to the place that's going to publish me soon. Now, Sold Soul is very very different from Zombies!, but I hope the editor likes that one too. Enough to buy it.

Of course, I hope that every time.

Words? What are these "words" to which you refer?

We're going to see Wreck-It Ralph this afternoon. Everyone I know who has seen it has loved it, so.

A copy of Werewolves on the Moon: Versus Vampires.

Yes. You read that right.

And it. Is. EPIC.

Run, don't walk, to your local comic book store and pick this up. I'm serious.

Of breaking Ben down piece by piece continues apace.

Every time he has a crisis, he loses just a little more of himself. He's becoming convinced that he's never getting out of here, never going to see Janni again. His life with Janni was one of constant human contact--if they were in the same room, they were touching. And now...

He's stuck in an apartment with someone he doesn't want touching him EVER. The only person he's with constantly has ulterior motives and considers him food. His wolf considers her an enemy.

And yet.

Her ulterior motives make it so that she's nice to him, because it makes her life easier to not have to fight him every inch of the way. And she actually does like him, quite a bit--more, probably, than she should. He depends on her for survival. She got him off the table and the needles out of his arms.

And thus is born a case of Stockholm Syndrome.

In other news, today is Free Comic Book Day. Hie thee to your local comic store and grab some goodies!

Bank, check
Comic book store, check. By the way, comic book store? IS KILLING ME DEAD. I am 45 years old. I should not be making a weekly visit to the frelling comic book store. And yet, here I am. Today's haul included the Ultimate Iron Man 2 trade, Farscape, Ender's Game 5, and I ordered the Sherlock Holmes and Muppet comics from the other store.
Library, check.
Groceries, check.

And, DUDE. I can has Ultimate Iron Man 2 trade by Orson Scott Card. And it is tasty, tasty crack and I need more like burning. NAOW, plz. Gawd, I love the Ultimate Universe. I got UIM1 from the library and I've been mainlining Young!Tony all day. Yesssssssssssss.

In other comics news, I really should dig through this pile of them I've got next to the couch and get them organized again. Out-of-control stack o' comics is out-of-control.

In writing news, I didn't work on the query letter, but I did get my requisite 250 words in, plus a little scratch that, a lot. I don't have what I started the day with next to me, but I think I cranked out another thousand words today when all was said and done. I thought I should explore how the moon affects Ben when he's got the wolfsbane around him and is incapable of Changing.

Badly, it turns out.

Duh.

Because this is me and I'm a horrible person. I may have mentioned this before.

Somewhere in there, I decided that Ben should have a name for his wolf. Because this is me and I'm weird. This, too, is something I may have mentioned before.

When one has replaced VHS tapes with DVDs, there is no need to hang on to the VHS tapes. Toss them, for Heaven's sake. All they're doing is taking up space. No one will even want them in a garage sale, dude. Pack rattage is not a virtue.

In other news, I've organized my comics (again) and discovered that I'm missing Issue 2 of Ender's Shadow. GAH. Oh well, I'm sure I'll be at the comic store next week (because this is my life now), and I'll see if they have it then, or if they can order it for me.

In other other news, we've rearranged the living room again, hopefully for the last time. Wish someone would take this damb blue sofa off our hands...

I've looked over my rewrite of the beginning of the novelthing again. Is much better, and I like it when not!Harry's sarcasm circuits are firing (however weakly) even when someone is beating the everlovin' crap out of him.

And Scalzi tells it like it is, vis a vis the writer's life and why your favorite writer may not be cranking out his or her next novel as fast as you'd like. Being on the creative end of a novel process for the first time...yeah. This writing shit is hard, man. And I shall refrain womanfully from busting JFav's chops over us not getting the rest of the Viva Las Vegas Iron Man comics yet, because I'm sure he's busy and there's stuff beyond his control happening behind the scenes that I am not privy to.

keeps creeping upwards. The goal was 85,000. It's a little over 90,800 now. And vastly improved over what it was. The Hubby is about halfway through it and took it with him on his trip.

And I realize that I should probably set it aside for at least a week or so and then come back at it with fresh eyes, BUT I CAN'T. Not while it keeps getting better with every change I make to it.

I should probably leave the beginning alone for awhile, though, and concentrate on something else...

In other news, I've gotten hooked on (EDIT) the lovely and effulgent [livejournal.com profile] pensive1 has hooked me on the Marvel Ultimates 'verse. OMG, y'all, it's AWESOME. Dark and gritty and...just...DUDE. Let me just say that if they bring the Black Widow into IM2, I'm going to hate her guts with the fire of a billion billion suns, even before she does anything bad in the movie. Yes.

I knocked the Dresden: Welcome to the Jungle, Galaxy Quest, and Chuck comics back tonight. And enjoyed them all thoroughly. However, I've often said that I'm easily entertained. Next on the list are Doctor Who, The Sisterhood, and Everybody's Dead.

I was thinking about going to Starbucks tomorrow to indulge in some caffeine therapy and pound on the not!kkbb/im thing for a bit, with no distractions around. But I need to see which comics are coming out so I know how much money I need on Wednesday. Fortunately, my local comic store is really good about posting what they have coming out for the upcoming week early, so's we can plan.

Because I need more comics. Why, yes, that was sarcasm leaking through, why do you ask?

Actually, I need box dividers like burning. The number of comics I have, for someone who just started reading the Angel comics a couple of years ago, is bordering on the ridiculous...

Dude. o.O

I am so far behind reading them. *sobs*

The good news is that I'm not missing any issues.

The other good news is that they were pretty easy to organize.

The bad news is...

I am so far behind reading them.

Seriously. Dresden, Galaxy Quest, Who, Chuck, Sisterhood, Everybody's Dead, Ender... Not to mention the fact that I haven't actually read an Angel: ATF since about issue 8 or a Buffy S8 comic since about #15 or so. And I should really start at the beginnings of both of them. Especially since, I believe, Angel has finished its run.

Well. They're not going to read themselves, I guess. I think I'll start with the ones that are complete series, then go through the Buffy and Angel ones, and then see where I am once those are done.

Seriously, the only ones I'm actually caught up on? Are the Iron Man comics. And I started buying and reading those last. *facepalm*

In other news, I've read through the not!kkbb/im thing again, to the end. And I still hate the end. It's in desperate need of hacking and slashing. Just...desperate. I'm wondering if I should even stick the vacation stuff in there at all.

Although not!Tony base-jumping off a cliff in Moab, landing wrong, and hitting a cactus, while drunk as a skunk on Laphroaig, is almost too good to give up.

I got my 500 words yesterday. Cracked 73K. Yay. Bad Guy is in the house, with a hostage and a pair of minions. He's outgunned, but...hostage. I'm thinking he kills the hostage (because he's not entirely rational at this point) and it all goes to shit from there, but I don't know. I need to leave him alive at the end of this particular standoff, because I have more planned for this. *evil laughter*

So, anyway, the logistics of this scene are...

Iffy.

Yeah, that's a good word.

Also, my mouth still hurts, although not as much as it did over the weekend. I have an appointment for a cleaning tomorrow. I'd just...like to spend a day where I'm not in pain. That'd be peachy. It's wearing me out. The ibuprofen knocks it back, but not out. Woe.

Meeting with Writing Buddy has been pushed back to tomorrow, so I can't bounce this off of him like I'd like to. I could just blow the writing off for the next couple of days and make up for it over the weekend, but I hate doing that.

At least there's new and interesting comics today. Chuck finishes its run, so I can sit down and read it all the way through and have a semblance of continuity. Solomon Kane #3 is also out today. Not that I read #2 yet. And Ender's Shadow #1. I am so far behind on my comic reading...

The Iron Man "Execute Program" graphic novel.

OH, TONY.

And now I get why the Civil War gets started. But, Tony, sweetie, your premise is flawed. Guns don't require registration everywhere, and cities like Salt Lake City where they're not are a hell of a lot safer than cities where they are like Los Angeles and New York City. Registration only works for the law-abiding.

The art in this book is fabulous. Tony spends a good deal of it shirtless, always a plus. I need to make some wallpaper...

Obama as President-elect and six inches of snow on the ground. Feh.

Also, Michael Crichton has died. :(

Also, the Muse has decided to go back into hiding. Part of my problem is that not!Tony is trying to persuade one of the bad guy's tech-y people to come work for him...but there's still really nothing they can do for not!Harry. His life will never ever go back to what passes for "normal" for him. But at the same time, they have to try because that's what they do.

But I don't even know where they'd start. I guess reversing the results of the nanotech would be the first thing, but the vampire thing along with him having now been bitten by a real werewolf...

Yeah, I'll say it again. HE'S HOSED.

...ish. I mean, he's still him. He hasn't turned into a bloodsucking fiend from beyond the grave or a crazy psycho wolf-man. He can't get a tan and he's on a semi-liquid diet for the foreseeable future, but on the upside he's really strong, he doesn't have to hide what he is from his employer and his girlfriend, and the panic attacks have been sublimated.

I dunno. Win?

*bangs head on keyboard* Of course, I'm going to be hitting him again here pretty quickly, but it's a matter of getting from here to there without boring the shit out of my audience. Snark. Snark and banter. Must get back to that. Yes.

So, anyway. In order to console myself about the election, I'm going to make an Iron Man vid to "Stray Cat Strut." I grabbed the song from Amazon because they take Pepsi Points for music downloads and I had some lying around. Yay free music.

And I have a meeting with my Writing Buddy tonight and there's a new Invincible Iron Man comic out today. So it's not a total loss.
